Genoa Part 1/ ジェノヴァへ Part 1

The day after Christmas-

From where my husband's parents live, Italy is very close.  So the four of us crossed the border, and went to Genoa for a short trip.  It took about three hours by car.

Unfortunately Genoa was very cold, and also wet.  Walking through cold rain shower, we arrived at a restaurant near the Old Port, or Porto Antico, where I had my trofie al pesto Genovese.

I was surprised how bright green it was, and also that it was not just boiled pasta but there was also some cubed potato in the dish (high carb..).
I had a few things on my "to eat" list in Genoa.  One ticked off.

We couldn't do much that day, for it was a Sunday and also the day after Christmas, so not a lot was going on.

   

We walked around town, hoping to find something interesting - but were not very lucky.
At least the hotel we stayed was very nice, so we decided to go back and enjoy our afternoon coffee break by the big Christmas tree.

Finding a good restaurant for dinner that was open proved to be a trickier task than we thought.
In the end, we followed the recommendation of the receptionist lady, and went to a seafood restaurant.

I don't think everybody was happy with their choices (my husband had a small mountain of tiny deep-fried and bony sardines and nothing else), but I was one of the lucky ones - my shellfish pasta was excellent.









After the dinner, I had a strong desire to look for a gelateria that was open, even in the cold or rain.
However - decided to respect the desire of others - i.e. go back to the hotel & have some digestif...

クリスマスの翌日。
夫の両親の住むところから、イタリアの国境はかなり近くです。ということで、4人で車でジェノヴァまで小旅行に行くことにしました。車で約3時間の道のりです。

到着したジェノヴァはあいにくの雨模様で、気温もかなり低めでした。
とりあえずお昼にすることにして、霧雨の中ポルト・アンティコ（旧港？）にあるレストランまで歩きました。
ここで、ジェノヴァに来たら食べたいと思っていた、ジェノヴェーゼのパスタを頂きました。

驚いたのは、この鮮やかな緑！（着色料？？）さらには、ジャガイモが入っていることにもちょっとびっくり。炭水化物過多じゃないんだろうか。
とりあえず、「ジェノヴァで食べたいもの」その１は達成です。

食後、街中を歩きましたが、クリスマスの翌日で、さらに日曜日だということもあり、かなり静かでした。開いているお店もまばら。
天気にも恵まれず、この日は大した観光も出来ずに終わってしまいました。

   

幸いにして、泊まっていたホテルはなかなか良いところだったので、午後は早めに切り上げて、ラウンジでのんびりしてコーヒーを頂きました。
大きなクリスマスツリーもいい雰囲気でした。

さて、夕食。
開いているお店がとても少なく、探すのに苦労したのですが、レセプションの女性のすすめに従い、港近くのシーフード・レストランに行きました。

残念ながら、どのお料理もおいしかった...わけではなさそうです（夫のメインは、骨の多い、小さなイワシのフライ山盛りでした。しかも付け合わせ無しで、それだけ）。
が、ラッキーなことに、私の貝類のパスタは当たりでした。貝のダシがよく出ていて（日本的な表現だ）、とてもおいしく頂きました。

夕食のあと、私としてはイタリアに来たのだから、ジェラート屋さんに行きたい...と思ったのですが、そこは団体行動ゆえ、ぐっと我慢しました。
明日に期待。
